POSTGAME NOTES: Revolution II Fall to New York Red Bulls II, 4
MONTCLAIR, N.J. – New England Revolution II (7-4-1; 23 pts.) fell to New York Red Bulls II (6-3-3; 23 pts.), 4-1, on Sunday night at MSU Soccer Park. Homegrown midfielder Jack Panayotou tallied his first goal of the season in the match while Revolution goalkeeper Jacob Jackson made 12 saves, marking a new career high.
New York found the scoresheet first with Julian Hall tallying in the fourth minute. Panayotou brought New England back level three minutes later, netting a cross from forward Malcolm Fry. Oladayo Thomas and Ronald Donkor each scored to give New York a 3-1 lead heading into halftime. New York's Ibrahim Kasule added on to the scoring in the 71st minute to secure a win for Red Bulls II.
"Obviously, a difficult match for the guys. I thought that we were very indecisive in how we wanted to play," Head Coach Clint Peay said postgame. "And I thought that from just a standpoint of hustle and determination, Red Bull had more desire in that regard today than we did, but I think some bad decisions in our build up and the intent to capitalize off what Red Bull was giving us wasn't there from our collective tonight."
New England returns to action on Sunday, June 11 to host Chicago Fire II at Gillette Stadium. The 8 p.m. match will stream live on MLSNEXTPro.com.
