Blackhawks Daily: Bickell at U.C., Stars Showdown, DeBrincat Goal

The Chicago Blackhawks had a familiar face in the crowd last night. Bryan Bickell, one of the Blackhawks alums famous for the “17 seconds” in 2013, was at the United Center last night watching the Hawks battle Patrick Kane and the Red Wings.
Before puck drop, Bickell even got to sound the horn, a new tradition the Blackhawks are trying to start at the arena where the team sounds the horn before puck drop. Bickell played 384 games with the Blackhawks from 2006 to 2016. In 2013, he scored eight goals during the postseason on the way to the Hawks second Stanley Cup in four seasons. Bickell was drafted by Chicago in the second round of the 2004 NHL Draft.
Last night was full of former Blackhawks. Alex DeBrincat, another second round pick from Chicago, scored to give the Red Wings the lead with just a few seconds left on the clock.
It was a fluke of a goal, but the Blackhawks have to be better in situations like this near the end of a period. While there was just 1.5 seconds left on the clock and the Blackhawks did play a good period, they ended up heading to the locker room down a goal because of some mistakes in the final seconds.
Luckily the Hawks won’t have to wait long to remedy their mistakes from last night. Tonight the Hawks head to Dallas for a showdown with the Dallas Stars. The Hawks are 3-2-0 since their last matchup in Dallas. Let’s see if they show up more prepared this time.
The Chicago Blackhawks lost a tough game last night at home, losing 4-1 to the Detroit Red Wings. From the past and present colliding, second line shining and Vlasic having a night to forget, there were a lot of takeaways from the Hawks loss.
Before the game, Blackhawks leading goal scorer Ryan Donato spoke with the media about what has been going right for him through 13 games. Donato has been on a heater as of late with some big goals during the Hawks five game road trip.
Following the loss, inside the locker room captain Nick Foligno spoke of the Blackhawks needing to do better, especially in front of the home crowd. That and more in the postgame locker room piece.

“We’ve got to figure it out at home, especially when we’re not on TV,” Foligno said postgame. “We’ve got to find a way to get our fans excited about us playing here. It’s disappointing tonight.”
