ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 7-ranked University of Michigan field hockey team earned goals from six different players in its 6-0 rout at No. 16 Penn State on Friday afternoon (Oct. 18) at Char Morett Curtiss Field. U-M pushed its win streak to 11 games with the victory and improved to 4-0 in Big Ten Conference play with four shutouts.

Senior/junior Abby Tamer posted one goal and assisted on three more to headline the Wolverines' offensive onslaught and up her team-leading totals to 11 goals and 11 assists. Graduate student Kate McLaughlin tallied her first goal in more than a month -- and 10th overall on the season -- after missing all but a few minutes of the last five games with injury.

Michigan (11-1, 4-0 Big Ten) struck quickly with two goals in the first quarter, including sophomore Juliette Manzur's first and game-winning tally just 1:57 into the game. Sophomore Abby Burnett received the ball outside the PSU 25 and took it to the right side of the circle, where she rifled it toward the middle and Manzur lunged to redirect it into the nearside corner for her fourth goal this season.

Senior Alana Richardson tallied her fifth goal of the season at the 9:03 mark. Tamer carried the ball up the middle into the circle and dished it to the left post, where Richardson, all alone, banged it into the cage.

The Wolverines surged with three goals in the third quarter, including back-to-back markers on the attack penalty corner. Tamer scored her goal at 33:52, ramping sophomore Eva Bernardy's sweep shot from the top of the circle high into the PSU cage. Fifth-year senior Pilar Oliveros nailed her direct-corner shot from the arc at 41:08 for her sixth goal; senior/junior Emmy Tran earned an assist on the insert.

Michigan scored again just 62 seconds later with McLaughlin's marker at 42:10. The Wolverines worked the ball from Burnett in the midfield to Tamer inside the circle and finally to McLaughlin on the right post for the deflection goal. Junior/sophomore Zoë Bormet rounded out U-M's scoring with her first collegiate goal at 53:18 in the fourth quarter. Tamer whipped a pass across the circle to Bormet on the left post; she banged one into the goalie before knocking her rebound into the lower-left corner.

Michigan outshot the Nittany Lions 15-8 while corners were even at 7-7. Sophomore/freshman goalkeeper Hala Silverstein posted three saves and senior/junior Caylie McMahon added two more to combine for the Wolverines' seventh shutout win this season and fourth straight. PSU goalkeepers Aby Deverka and Lauren Delgado stopped five of 11 U-M shots on goal.

Penn State's (7-7, 1-4 Big Ten) best opportunity came during a stretch of two corners and three shots in the final two minutes of the third quarter. Silverstein made two saves on the first corner chance, stopping the initial shot low before knocking away the rebound attempt high with her blocker.

The Wolverines will wrap up the weekend road trip at No. 8 Maryland on Sunday (Oct. 20), taking on the Terrapins at noon at the Terrapins' Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex in College Park, Md. The game will be streamed live on B1G+.
