Link light rail single tracking late night and early mornings weekends of June 9

Jan 31, 2024

In order for work crews to conduct maintenance on the 1 Line electrical system along the north end of the alignment, light rail service will experience significant impacts to service late at night and early in the morning on the weekends of June 9-11 and June 16-18. Trains will be single tracking between the Northgate and University of Washington stations, with platform closures at the Northgate, Roosevelt, U District and University of Washington Stations.

All 1 Line trains in both directions will terminate at the University of Washington station. Riders wishing to continue in either direction will need to deboard and board a train traveling in the opposite direction. Trains operating between Northgate and University of Washington will operate every 24 minutes. Trains operating between University of Washington and Angle Lake will operate every 12 minutes. Information on the required transfer can be found on the 1 Line service disruption page.

The maintenance hours during which these service impacts will occur are:

Riders returning from the Reign game on June 10 and the Mariners game on June 16 and traveling through the affected stations should be aware that their ride will be impacted by these service changes.

During the June 9-11 maintenance hours, the southbound (Angle Lake) platform will be closed at Northgate, Roosevelt, U District, and University of Washington stations, and all passengers will board and deboard the 1 Line on the Northgate platform regardless of direction of travel.

Once the maintenance is completed, it will take about 30 minutes for trains to return to normal headways.

During the June 16-18 maintenance hours, the northbound (Northgate) platform will be closed at Northgate, Roosevelt, U District, and University of Washington stations, and all passengers will board and deboard the 1 Line on the Angle Lake platform regardless of direction of travel.

Passengers should allow for additional travel time during this period. Information about alternative routes that passengers may want to consider is available on our website. For more information on this disruption, passengers can visit the 1 Line service disruption page.
